Zakat & Sadaqa

Donate Now

100% of your donation reaches families in need. The Foundation's administrative and operational costs are covered separately by private donors.

Believe in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), and spend of that whereof He has made you trustees. And such of you as believe and spend (in Allah's Way), theirs will be a great reward.

Surah Al-Hadid: 7 Surah Al-Hadid, verse 7, in Arabic calligraphy

Since different Islamic rulings apply on criteria for distribution, we keep Zakat and Sadaqa separate. Donations to the foundation can be done through following methods.

Method one

Zelle or Venmo

Send directly to the mailbox that matches the kind of charity you are giving.

Zakat

Zelle or Venmo

Zakat — Zelle or Venmo to

Zakat@FoundationForLocalNeedy.org

Sending by Zelle? Please type your email address in the memo — the field your bank calls “Memo”, “Add a note” or “What's this for?”. That is all we need to send your tax receipt, and the memo is private.

Sending by Venmo? Venmo notes are public, so please leave your email out of them and use the Donor Information form instead.

Sadaqa

Zelle only

Sadaqa — Zelle (Venmo not supported at the moment) to

Sadaqa@FoundationForLocalNeedy.org

Please type your email address in the Zelle memo — the field your bank calls “Memo”, “Add a note” or “What's this for?”. That is all we need to send your tax receipt, and the memo is private.

Dear Brother / Sister,

IRS regulations mandate that a receipt be issued for each donation. Although sending money this way is highly convenient, it does not give the recipient any contact details of the donor.

To adhere to legal requirements, please fill in donor information below if you haven't already done so.

Donor Information (for your tax receipt)

IRS regulations require a receipt for each donation. Complete our short Donor Information form and we will send your tax receipt.

Method two

By check

Make the check payable to Foundation for Local Needy. Clearly write in the memo section if it is Zakat or Sadaqa.

Mailing address
The Foundation for Local Needy
38 De Leone Cir
Franklin Park, NJ 09823
On the memo line

Write either “Zakat” or “Sadaqa”

Zakat and Sadaqa have different fiqh rulings for disbursement, so the memo line is what tells us which ledger a check belongs to.

Method three

Donate a vehicle

Through our partner Cars4Jannah, you can donate your car or other vehicle.

How it works

Fill in the short form on the Cars4Jannah page. They arrange free towing from your home straight to an auction house or salvage yard, where the vehicle is sold. The Foundation never takes the vehicle itself.

Donate your vehicle

Where the money goes

The sale proceeds go to the Foundation

Cars4Jannah handles the paperwork and sells the vehicle. All of the proceeds from the sale go to The Foundation for Local Needy, and you receive a tax-deductible receipt.
